I think it's pretty clear that my time in Barcelona has been incredible. But I do have some moments that stick out the most as my favorites. And I wanted to share them! :)
- All my hugs and kisses from my first graders DUH!
- Overhearing my little translator in class explaining that "Brit-nee" (how we pronounce my name in America) is English for "Brit-ta-nee" hahaha!
- Anytime I got mistaken for being Spanish!
- My 24th birthday!!!!
- ...and also watching The Hunger Games: Catching Fire! SO GOOD! (Team Peeta for life!)
- When little Diego tried so hard explaining something (for like 5 minutes!) and when I finally understood what he said! (He forgot his swimming clothes haha.)
- FARGGI ICE CREAM!!
- Becoming a Barça fan at my first official soccer/futbol game! (Especially after the day me and Erica had. -_-)
- Anytime Santi would sing an American song. I really liked his rendition of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines", which went a little something like this: "I know you 'wub' it, but you're goooood and niceeee!" Hahaha!
- Spending a Sunday in a little town, having a legit Spanish BBQ, and teaching Blanca the "Electric Slide."
- Watching my boys at soccer practice and them all yelling, "Miss Brit-ta-neee!" when they spotted me.
- Singing with my sweet Cecilia on the metro. ("Cups" and "Hakuna Matata" were our favorites.)
- Thanksgiving! I especially liked the FEAST our sweet host families prepared for us and shopping on Las Ramblas!
- Having a very sweet guy from Switzerland help us on the train from Paris and talking about why Kentuckians are the best with an Australian dude (and how he could tell we were Americans ha!).
- Making BFFs with this random French couple on Champs Élysées.
- Getting teary-eyed at Musée d'Orsay. I just adored seeing all my favorite artists.
- When Santi randomly asked Javier if he would want to marry me.
- When Luis and I were taking a photo, and I said, "Cheese!" and he responded with "Potatoes!" ahahaha!
- All of Blanca's little notes she left me on her chalkboard :)
- Having Leo hug me and then ask me if I had a baby inside HAHA!
- Riding with Cristina on the motorbike all the way up to Tibidabo...so beautiful!
- Hiking up the steepest hill of my life with Erica to see Park Güell!
- My last day at Santa Isabel. So bitter sweet! <3
- Ice skating with my fellow student teachers! Super fun!
- Everything at Costa Brava (my dream home!!)
- Spending the weekend in Castellterçol and feeling like a local. =)
- Going to me first, LEGIT medieval festival in Vic, Spain. So cool!
- Having the best 10 euro meal of mine and Erica's live in my Spanish neighborhood. (Gràcia, REPRESENT! =P)
I will be forever thankful for my time in Barcelona. It was more incredible than I could ever imagine. I made beautiful, wonderful memories, gained new friendships, and now have a family across the Atlantic Ocean. Not only did I grow as a person, I know that this experience has made me a better teacher. And there is nothing better than that! Thank you to everyone who made it so very special. See you soon! ;)
